Lost your phone or laptop?
Don't panic. Most phones and laptops can be found for free – you just need another phone or computer and your account password. Pick yours:
📱 Android phone (Google)
- On any other phone or computer, open Google's Find Hub (it used to be called Find My Device).
- Sign in with the same Google account that's on the lost phone.
- You'll see it on a map. Tap Play sound if it's nearby – it rings even on silent.
- If it's gone, tap Secure device to lock it and put your number on the screen.
📱 Samsung phone
Google Find Hub above works. Samsung also has its own, which can sometimes find a phone that's offline:
Open Samsung Find🍎 iPhone, iPad or Mac (Apple)
- Open iCloud Find My on any phone or computer.
- Sign in with your Apple Account (the same as on the lost device).
- Pick the device. Tap Play Sound, or Mark As Lost to lock it and show your number.
💻 Windows laptop
Works if “Find my device” was switched on in the laptop's settings. Sign in with your Microsoft account:
Open Microsoft devices💻 Chromebook
Chromebooks can't be shown on a map, but you can sign it out of your Google account so nobody can get into your stuff. Look under “Your devices”:
Open Google devicesIf you think it's been stolen
- Don't go after it yourself. If you see where it is, tell the police.
- Report it to the police on 101 (or 999 if it's happening now) and get a crime number.
- Ring your mobile network to block the SIM so nobody can run up your bill.
- Change your email and banking passwords from another device.
- Tip for next time: dial *#06# on your phone now and save the number it shows (the IMEI) – police and your network can block the phone with it.
Do it now, before you need it
Check “Find my device” / “Find My” is switched on in your phone or laptop settings. It's off on some devices.
