How we use your info
Short and plain. FindMe is run by OPUP in the UK.
- What we keep: your name, email, a scrambled version of your password (we can't read it), and the names, emails and mobile numbers of your trusted people.
- Your location: only taken after you press SOS (or send a test). Never in the background otherwise.
- Who sees it: only people who have your alert link – the trusted people you choose, and anyone they pass it to (like 999).
- Working out the area: to say if you're near water, hills or in town, we send the position (not your name) to free map services: OpenStreetMap and Open-Meteo.
- We never sell your info or use it for adverts.
- Visit counting: we count page visits with GoatCounter, which doesn't use cookies or track you around the web.
- Deleting: Settings → “Delete my account” wipes your account, people and alert history straight away.
- Questions: email ask@opup.co.uk. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Important
FindMe helps your own people find you. It is not an emergency service and doesn't contact 999 for you. Phones can lose signal or battery, and alert emails can land in junk. If you're in danger, call 999.
